A Diluted Dejá Vu
It was just two years ago that the Eaglettes, led by former standout Lakelyn Bouldin, fell at the hands of a mighty Pickett County on their home court.
Even legend fail sometimes. Only a year later the Eaglettes, crashed through to the Glass House in Murfreesboro. Still, this season’s squad has had its pitfalls, twists, and turns.
With the dawning of a new Bouldin-less era, Marion County emerged as the favorite in District 6A and Region 3A, but down the stretch, the Eaglettes were not on the downturn.
In fact, they came up swinging and fighting their way to a Substate berth for the fourth straight year and fifth in six seasons. The tale of the 2017 squad may not be the essence of dominance or reek of 30-point blowouts, but it does keep alive the new-found heritage of an area powerhouse nestled on the edge of the Upper Cumberland and Chattanooga regions.
Pickett County came into Spencer two years ago and exited with a 30-point blowout victory. For head coach Tyler Sapp and company, they hope to return the favor in Byrdstown.

“They are a very good team and we are going into a tough play to play. We have to handle the full court pressure, chase their shooters off the three-point line, and rebound in order to have an opportunity to win. It’s going to be a tough game, but at this time of the year, every game is tough.”
