1. Van Buren County Eagles
2015 Record: 28-6 (12-0, D6-A)
2015 Finish: State Semifinals (Loss vs. Booker T. Washington, 54-40)
The And-One: The Eagles lost a sizeable and noticeable senior class, but Caden Mills’ run is still strong as he enters his junior season of play, looking to lead this year’s squad back to the Glass House. Smash.
2. Sequatchie County Indians
2015 Record: 13-18 (5-5, D7-AA)
2015 Finish: Region Quarterfinals (Loss vs. Macon County, 43-69)
The And-One: The Indians only lose one senior with a lot of minutes from last season as they have a veteran-ladened senior starting five. The Twin Towers make up two-fifths of that squad.
3. Marion County Warriors
2015 Record: 19-9 (10-2, D6-A)
2015 Finish: Sectionals (Loss vs. Clay County, 87-76)
The And-One: The Warriors’ first game takes place on December 2nd. That’s the weekend of the Football State Championship. Warriors have learned how to schedule after early season woes in previous years.
4. Richard Hardy Memorial Hawks
2015 Record: 12-13 (5-5, D-6A)
2015 Finish: Region Quarterfinals (Loss vs. CSAS, 78-51)
The And-One: The Hawks could hold the biggest surprise this season after above-average success last season, picking up the fourth seed in a seven-team district.
5. Bledsoe County Warriors
2015 Record: 10-18 (4-6, D7-AA)
2015 Finish: District First Round (Loss vs. Signal Mountain, 43-41)
The And-One: This Warrior senior class is on its third head coach in as many years after a storied Region Semifinal run two seasons ago. Youth from last season should be able to compete this season under new head coach Lucas Nunley.
6. Grundy County Yellow Jackets
2015 Record: 5-23 (0-10, D7-AA)
2015 Finish: District First Round (Loss vs. Sequatchie County, 46-42)
The And-One: The Yellow Jackets are also on their third coach in as many years. Look for a continuously rebuilding program this season under new head coach Kevin Butner.
7. South Pittsburg Pirates
2015 Record: 4-14 (2-10, D6-A)
2015 Finish: District First Round (Loss vs. Richard Hardy, 76-74)
The And-One: The Pirates will look for continued success in a district that has spawned state contenders over the past three years.
8. Whitwell Tigers
2015 Record: 0-28 (0-12 D6-A)
2015 Finish: District Play-In (Loss vs. Sale Creek, 53-31)
The And-One: The Tigers currently ride a 29-game losing skid, dating back to the 2014-2015 season. The Tigers also have a new head coach in Bruce Slatten with a young and eager team.
