On a bye during Week Five, the Indians were bolstered to No. 3 in the State behind only Alcoa (#1), Liberty Magnet (#2), leap-frogging Chattanooga area power Notre Dame.  Sequatchie County is one of three undefeated teams in the top ten and the only one in the top five.  No other 4-3A team is joining them in the Top Ten this week.  The Indians have claimed wins over South Pittsburg (27-20), Whitwell (61-20), Smith County (19-14), and York Institute (35-20) early in the season.  They take on a huge rival in Bledsoe County (#13 in the GSV Power Rankings) during Week Six in the infamous ‘Battle for the Stump.’

After falling to South Pittsburg in week four, the Warriors took a tumble to No. 3 behind Region 3-2A rival Boyd-Buchanan (#2) and Adamsville (#1).  The Warriors resume includes four wins against Brainerd, Grundy County, region foe Meigs County, and Class 4A Hixson.  They narrowly lost to the Pirates who are currently ranked No. ? in Class 1A Poll.  They play host to Brainerd this week in Jasper, trying to pick up region win number two and salvage their rankings in the 2A poll.

Unlike the Warriors and Indians, the Pirates have a lot of teams between them and the number one ranking, including Trousdale County, Nashville Christian, Wayne County, Greenback, Union City, and Dresden.  Vic Grider and his upstart squad have pulled together after an upsetting defeat in Dunlap to start out the season.  And upsetting the Warriors should only be the start of a run to Cookeville, but they’ve still got time to surge up the polls as well.  The only problem is their region which has been lackluster in previous years
